CivicSense ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information — name and email address provided when you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Location data — GPS coordinates collected only while the app is open and only when you file a report, to identify the nearest responsible government agency.
- Report content — photos, descriptions, and category you attach to a report.
- Contact details — phone number and city/state you optionally provide so agencies can follow up.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To route your report to the correct local government agency.
- To display community reports on the in-app map (reporter identity is never shown publicly — only anonymised initials and coarsened location are shared).
- To let you track the status of your own reports.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Data Sharing
Your report details (description, location, photo, contact info) are shared only with the government agency you choose to notify. We use Clerk (clerk.com) for authentication and inherit their security practices for credential handling.
4. Data Retention
Your reports are stored on our servers for as long as your account is active. You may delete any report at any time within the app. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at us.civicsense@gmail.com.
5. Children's Privacy
CivicSense is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
